The Bread & Butter Project announces Indigenous-inspired collaboration

Polymer Studios is proud to have supported The Bread & Butter Project in launching its inspiring new collaboration with Indigenous social enterprise IndigiGrow, bringing together Australia’s oldest and newest cultures through a unique range of artisan baked goods.

The collaboration sees refugee bakers at The Bread & Butter Project handcraft a collection of products at its Marrickville bakery using native Australian ingredients supplied by IndigiGrow, including lemon myrtle, pepperberry, wattleseed and saltbush. The resulting range celebrates culture, connection and shared storytelling, while creating meaningful employment opportunities for both refugee and Aboriginal communities.

The six-product range includes Lemon Myrtle and Pepperberry sourdough varieties, Dark Chocolate & Wattleseed Brownies, Toffee’d Saltbush Blondies, Caramelised White Chocolate & Saltbush Bikkies, and Lemon Myrtle Toffee’d Caramel Shortbreads, which are now available through Harris Farm Markets stores across NSW. Timed to coincide with National Reconciliation Week, Refugee Week and NAIDOC Week, the collaboration encourages Australians to discover native ingredients while supporting two purpose-driven social enterprises.

Working alongside The Bread & Butter Project, Polymer developed media and communications that helped bring the partnership to life, highlighting the shared values of the two organisations and the positive social impact created through the collaboration. The launch has resonated strongly with audiences by demonstrating how food can create connections across cultures while celebrating Australia’s rich Indigenous heritage.

The story has attracted significant media attention across Australia, including coverage by the National Indigenous Times and a selection of retail and food industry publications, with the partnership also featuring on SBS News / NITV as part of broader coverage celebrating the collaboration and its community impact. For Polymer, the project demonstrates the power of strategic storytelling in helping purpose-led organisations connect with new audiences. We’re proud to have supported The Bread & Butter Project in showcasing a collaboration that not only introduces Australians to the flavours of native ingredients, but also celebrates the connections that can be forged through food, culture and community.
