Polymer Studios has partnered with Burwood Council to develop a comprehensive Marketing and Communications Strategy for the proposed Burwood Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP), helping to lay some early groundwork for the future of one of Sydney’s most exciting emerging night-time destinations.
The strategy represents a significant milestone in the evolution of the project, providing the communications framework to support the proposed 16-month SEP trial and position Burwood as a vibrant, inclusive and culturally diverse destination for residents, businesses and visitors.
Developed in collaboration with Reactivate Consulting and Studio GL, the strategy establishes a new narrative for the precinct, combining strategic messaging, stakeholder research, media relations, social media, and creative visitation campaign concepts to support Burwood’s transformation into a thriving day-to-night destination. The strategy was designed to help Burwood Council build awareness of the new precinct, encourage visitation and foster long-term community ownership with local residents and businesses.
A key focus of the strategy was translating a complex planning initiative into a compelling story that would resonate with diverse audiences. Polymer developed a layered messaging framework to explain the purpose and benefits of the SEP while reinforcing Burwood’s identity as Sydney’s Cultural Playground and introducing the concept of a Central Experience District (CXD) – a destination centred on culture, food, entertainment and community.
With the Burwood Special Entertainment Precinct Planning Proposal now publicly exhibited, the project has entered an important new phase, inviting feedback from residents, businesses and the wider community as Council considers the future of Burwood’s night-time economy. Polymer is proud to support Burwood Council in delivering strategic communications that help communities understand change, inspire participation and build confidence in city-shaping initiatives. The project demonstrates the value of combining communications, engagement and place branding to create vibrant destinations that benefit local communities and businesses alike.
