Polymer delivers community engagement success for 5 Blue Street, North Sydney

Working with Zurich and Lighthouse Project Group, Polymer Studios has successfully completed a community engagement program for the proposed adaptive re-use of 5 Blue Street, North Sydney.

The engagement program marks an important milestone for the project, which seeks to transform the existing commercial office building above North Sydney Station into a mixed-use residential development, delivering new housing, affordable co-living accommodation, activated retail uses and a revitalised public plaza.

Working closely with the project team, Polymer developed and delivered a tailored engagement strategy designed to inform stakeholders and provide meaningful opportunities for community participation ahead of the project’s planning submission.

The consultation program included stakeholder communications, project information materials, digital engagement tools and a dedicated project website, as well as two online community information sessions attended by local residents, businesses and other interested stakeholders.

Hosted by Polymer Director Andrew Coward, the webinars provided attendees with the opportunity to hear directly from the project team, learn more about the proposal and ask questions about the future of the site. The sessions generated valuable feedback and constructive discussion, helping to build community understanding of the proposal and its potential benefits.

Following the completion of the engagement program, Polymer prepared a comprehensive Community Engagement Report summarising consultation activities and community feedback. The report will support the project’s forthcoming State Significant Development Application. The successful delivery of the engagement program highlights the importance of early and transparent consultation in shaping major projects and ensuring stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute to the planning process.
